1915
 The Australian Federal Government first imposed Income Tax as a wartime measure.

1926  Murulla, New South Wales – The State’s worst rail disaster to that date occurred when 12 goods waggons broke away from a train and rolled downhill for some kilometres, after a co-inciding brake failure  The runaway waggons ultimately collided at high speed with the approaching Moree – Sydney overnight mail train, resulting in a toll of 26 fatalities with 38 injured.

1954  Scottsdale, Tasmania – Radio station 7DY, which formerly broadcast from Derby, commenced transmission from Scottsdale under the new callsign of 7SD.
