1967, South-East Queensland, Flooding caused millions of dollars of damage, particularly around Brisbane and the Gold Coast. In northern New South Wales, parts of Murwillumbah, Kyogle, Bellingen, Lismore and Grafton were also flooded.
1967, Baikonur, Kazakhstan, The space probe Venera 4 was launched to the planet Venus. It became the first probe to enter another planet’s atmosphere and successfully return data.

1928, Vito Rocco Farinola alias Vic Damone, in New York, U.S.A.. He was a singer and entertainer who appeared in numerous movies and television programmes. He died in 2018, aged 89.
1929, Annelies Marie Frank alias Anne Frank in Frankfurt, Germany. She was a, diarist who gained fame posthumously through her diary, which documents her life whilst hiding from occupying German forces in the Netherlands during World War 2.
Her diary, which was saved by her father’s secretary, was published in 1947, and has since been translated into over 60 languages She died in the Belsen concentration camp shortly before the war’s end in 1945.
1938, Tom Oliver, in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire, England. He is an Australian television, film and theatre actor who appeared in numerous Australian productions, but is most recently best known for his 25 year role as Lou Carpenter in the Australian soapie Neighbours.
1953, Jonathan Burnette alias Rocky Burnette in Memphis, Tennessee U.S.A. He was a rock and roll singer and son of rock and roll pioneer, Johnny Burnette. He is best known for his 1980 hit single Tired of Toein’ The Line.

1989, Louis Scaglione alias Lou Monte, inPompano Beach, Florida, U.S.A. aged 72. He was a singer best known for a number of Italian-themed novelty records.
1992, Gerda Nicolson, inMelbourne, Victoria, aged 54. She was an Australian theatre and television actress who appeared in many productions, including Bellbird, Prisoner and Neighbours.
2003, Gregory Peck, in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., aged 87. He was a popular movie star from the 1940s to the 60s. His notable performances include that of Atticus Finch in the 1962 film To Kill A Mockingbird, for which he won an Academy Award. In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked Peck at #12 of the Greatest Male Stars of All Time.
