Easy listening, retro and recent releases not heard on mainstream radio throughout the morning, on the Derwent Valley’s own radio station.
Today’s photo – Portion of the Bridgewater causeway, around 20 kilometres from New Norfolk, which was constructed by teams of convicts under a brutal overseer in the 1830s.
Solid rock sourced from an adjacent quarry was used, using the most primitive tools.
This causeway served road and, later, rail traffic continuously for 190 years until recently, when a new concrete road bridge was opened.
