7 MARCH IN HISTORY:

1937   An Airlines of Australia aircraft which was on a flight from Brisbane to Sydney with a crew of two and 5 passengers when it went missing on February 19, was found in the McPherson Ranges near the Queensland border.
Three of the passengers had survived the crash, but one later perished when he tried to walk for help.  The remaining two passengers, who were seriously injured, were carried to safety

1965  A Qantas Boeing jet City of Townsville completed the first non-stop flight across the Pacific, covering the distance from San Francisco to Sydney in 14 hours 32 minutes.

1979  The rings around the planet Jupiter were photographed for the first time by the U.S. space probe Voyager 1
