Today’s pic: Ruins of the 200-year-old convict penitentiary on Sarah Island, Macquarie Harbour in Western Tasmania.
Known for it’s extremely harsh conditions, this prison was virtually escape-proof, being mostly surrounded by impenetrable rainforest. It’s only access was via Hell’s Gates, a treacherous entrance into Macquarie Harbour, a shallow fiord on the west coast. Photo: Yours Truly
