Valley Sunrise, 20 August 2023

The programme began with a problem – the studio telephone wasn’t working, and with listener requests now an
indelible part of the playlist, that needed a quick resolution.

The immediate work-around is to direct listeners who wanted to make a request, to message me at my Facebook page,
Ray Hewitt Valley Sunrise .

Trying to solve the problem within the studio and keep the programme running was difficult, so I notified TYGA-FM’s
technician, Rozzie, who was able to sort it within 15 minutes.

This day would have marked the 100th birthday of singer Jim Reeves, if he was still with us.

Jim was at home with either country music, or smooth ballads, and July 31, 1964, was indeed a day when music died,
as the light plane he was flying crashed during stormy weather. Also killed was his manager, Dean Manuel.

Accordingly, I included two Jim Reeves recordings in today’s programme.
